Pedro Parente

Chairman

Padro is the Chairman of the Arlon Latin America Advisory Board. Padro is a Partner at PRADA Financial Advisory Group. Prior to this, from 2010-2014, he was the CEO and President of Bunge Brazil, a leading agribusiness company. From 2003-2009, he was the COO of Grupo RBS-Brazil, a multimedia company with operations in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. Padro has held several positions in the Brazilian government. From 1999-2002, he was a Minister of Planning (1999) in the Government of President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, then Chief of Staff (1999/2002) and Minister of Energy and Mining (2001/2002). From 1995-2002, Padro was the Executive Secretary for the Ministry of Finance. He was also a consultant of the International Monetary Fund (1993-1994) and of public institutions in Brazil, including the Constitutional Assembly of 1988, and several States of the Federation. From 1985-1992, he occupied several positions in Brazil's Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Planning in institutional development in the public financial area in Brazil, including the creation of the National Treasury Organization (Secretaria do Tesouro Nacional). Padro began his career in the public sector in 1971, when he joined the Bank of Brazil (Banco do Brazil). In 1973, he was transferred to the Central Bank of Brazil (Banco Central), where he remained until 1984. Padro was the Chairman of the Boards of Banco do Brazil, the Federal Savings Bank (Caixa Econômica Federal) and of Petrobras. He was also a member of the boards of companies such as TAM, CPFL (Chairman), Duratex, Kroton, Wilson & Sons, Grupo RBS, e Itaipu Binacional, among others. Padro was honored with several national decorations, both civil and military. He was also awarded decorations from States of the Federation and from foreign countries. Currently, Padro is a fellow of the George Washington University – the Center for Latin American Studies, in Washington DC, a Member of the Board of “Sou da Paz” and a Member of the New York Philharmonic International Advisory Board, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BM&F Bovespa, ABC Group and SBR-Global, and a Member of the Board of Directors of Continental Grain Company. Padro graduated from the University of Brasilia.
